Review: BYS Blush Trio

Hey Guys

Sorry for the lack of posts, my house was meant to get the internet set up this week (after a 6 week wait) but they couldn't find the line so someone else has to come in and check it out!! We have been using a pay as you go wifi modem for internet but we try to use it predominately for Uni as it is quite expensive (racked up almost $400 in the past 6 weeks :S).

Anyway on to a review of an awesome blush trio I wanted to share with you! I picked up BYS's Blush Trio in On the Brightside which contains three lovely pink blushes.

I found the packaging to be fairly typical from BYS, cheap quality plastic but you get what you pay for, ultimately the packaging is less important than the product and that's what I found with this blush trio. The colour pay off is fantastic like most of the BYS single blushes, you really need to be careful and apply with a light hand and fluffy brush or you will end up with far too much product on your face... Unless that's the result you want ha.

The colours are absolutely gorgeous and not at all similar when on the face. The first is a pink with shimmer throughout it but only a little shimmer transfers onto the skin. The next is a super bright fuchsia pink which is gorgeous but a bit scary for me to use! The last is a slightly lighter pink colour with no shimmer. All shades have good colour pay off and are very pigmented (particularly the middle colour) and last a good 4-5 hours on my oily skin. I think that this is good for travelling with as you have three different blushes in one palette and the take up little room and are fairly sturdy so unlikely to smash.

Have you tried any BYS blushes?

Weekly Loves #08

It has been a fair while since I have done one of these posts but I have actually been loving some different products this week so I wanted to share them with you!

This lip treatment comes in a duo kit with a day treatment as well and while I like the day lip balm I absolutely love the night one. It is quite thick and a fairly plain formula (no scent) but it leaves my lips so smooth the next morning. Definitely recommend using a treatment like this during winter if you suffer from dry lips like myself.

I am trying to use this treatment every three nights in order to get continued benefits, I typically use it once a week and my skin is amazing the next morning but using this only once a week doesn't benefit my skin long term. Since starting to use this every three nights I have been noticing my skin is generally clearer and scars are starting to slowly lighten.

If you don't own a BYS blush then you are missing out, they have some lovely colours with great pigmentation for very little cost. Coral is typically my go to however for some reason I have been drawn to this lovey pink colour. It makes my cheeks look flushed and bright without effort.

I purchased this eyeliner specifically to use on my waterline as I had read reviews that it brightens up the eye area, and it really does. This pencil is very creamy which makes it easy to line the waterline and it instantly gives you a fresh eyed look regardless of how much sleep you have gotten.

Bones
I have been re watching all the episodes of the tv show Bones, I am up to season 9 and have rushed though all of the episodes, completely addicted and in love. Cannot wait until it comes back for season 10.

April Monthly Favourites

Hey Lovlies!

So it is that time of month again where I look back at what I have been loving for the past month. This month has gone super quick, Uni work is getting more intense with more and more deadlines looming. I even had a week holiday this month, which was fantastic but went very quickly like the whole month. I don't have a lot to feature this month as it has been a relaxed month in terms of beauty, skincare and hair care products. Make up is all products that I can use easily and quickly to fit in with my busy schedule. I have started using a new skincare routine but I only just received it at the end of the month so I will feature that here when I have had long enough to properly trial it. My hair care has remained the same, well actually less intense than my old routine as I chopped off all my dead split ends and now my hair feels a hundred times better than it did previously. On to the top products of the month...

I purchased a new foundation this month, Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in the shade 825. This is a reasonable shade match, maybe a little too light but nothing a bit of bronzer can't fix. This was the only foundation I took on holiday with me and was great as it is medium coverage, lasts, is a primer and contains sunscreen. It is not enough foundation for me on special occasions but for everyday usage this is great! I purchased this on sale for $12 at Kmart.

Rather than taking my loose finishing veil with me on holidays and making a huge mess every morning, I took this translucent pressed powder. This is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Long Lasting  Pressed Powder in shade 001 Transparent. The packaging is a bit flimsy but this stuff ensures my foundation and other makeup stays put all day with little need for touch ups .

I have been ignoring all my other blushes this month in favor of my BYS Coral Blusher, which I have mentioned on here a few times before. I absolutely love this blush and it's robust packaging meant I knew it would be fine in my luggage when I was away.

To prep my lips which have been incredibly dry this month I have been using the Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub which smells and tastes amazing! I rub this all on my lips to ensure that there is no flakiness when I apply my lip products. On my lips has been the Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayon pictured here in shade Cupcake which is a lovely sheer pink shade. These are not long lasting but easy to apply on the go and don't require a mirror to ensure you haven't missed a spot. Simply swipe on and purse lips and tada, even glossy lips!

What have you been loving this past month?

March Monthly Favourites

Hey Guys

This is a bit late I know, but I have never done a monthly favourites before and I really wanted to start it but couldn't get my act together to chose everything I have been loving the past month. Better late than never I believe in this case!

March has absolutely flown by and April will be jam packed for me! I have multiple assessments due, a week holiday, a rental inspection, an upcoming hair appointment and another vet trip. I have also chosen to participate in the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge that is currently making its way around Instagram, I have never been one to take heaps of photos so it will be interesting having to post a photo a day but I am looking forward to participating more in the social side of beauty blogging.

On to my favourites for the month though..

It has been a beauty heavy favourite month this month, my skincare has been the same for a while as my skin can be fairly sensitive to some products so I am scared of breakouts if I try to switch up my routine too much. One good new product I have been using on my skin is the Sukin Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil which I mentioned in a blog post here, back in February. I try to use treatments every other night and an oil in between, when I use this Rose hip Oil I tend to wake up in the morning with much smoother and plumper skin. The only other sort of skincare product I have been using constantly this past month is the Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid with Lemon Oil. My lips are fairly dry and cracked a lot of the time (might have something to do with a nervous habit I have of biting my lips) so I like to keep this on hand to use. It is travel friendly and smells fantastic!

I have been using the Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer under my foundation and then placing a cream concealer on top, that is just how bad my under eye area is at the moment. I really like this product and on a good day this is more than enough to cover and conceal everything. I also enjoy that it aims to conceal AND treat your puffy and dark under eye area. The base that I have been loving lately after repurchasing is the Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Oily/Combination Skin, I was a little concerned that this was breaking me out, but I believe I have narrowed that down to a primer I was wearing. I really hope this isn't breaking out my skin as I absolutely love this foundation. It is the only low end foundation I have found that stays on my skin all day and will look relatively the same at night as when I put it on in the morning. I have shade 220 Natural Beige which is a good match for my skin colour at the moment.

The only cheek product I have been wearing lately is a light sweeping of BYS Compact Blusher in shade Coral. This is really pigmented and very cheap so I love to use this on a daily basis, I don't have to feel guilty if I use it all up. It is coming up to colder months now so I should probably stop wearing coral products but I absolutely love this blush so I probably wont be giving up using it any time soon. On my eyes I have mainly been using the Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in shade 05 to die for, I reviewed this product fully here. I really enjoy using this eyeshadow quad, the shades are lovely and the formula is really good, they are not chalky and are quite buttery smooth. You can create a few looks from just the four shades, but I mainly just stick with the same one, if it aint broke don't fix it.

There is all the products I have been really loving this past month. What have you been loving?

BYS Blusher

So today I wanted to review for you a cheap blush that I think is very good quality for the price. If you haven't noticed yet, yes I do have an unhealthy obsession for blush. I absolutely love it, my absolute favourite is coral peach colours which I just feel are universally flattering. BYS products are sold at several different stores, with Kmart being one of the biggest. I bought both of my blushes from Kmart, the first quite a while ago and the second recently in a sale. I think they retail for around $5-$6 AU but I cant find the exact price online.

BYS Blusher

I have two shades of the seven that are known as compact blushes or blusher. My shades include coral which is lovely peach shade and pretty in pink which is a bright bubblegum pink in the pan. These are both quite shimmery but I don't find that they settle in my pores or draw more attention to them.

Swatch of L-R Pretty in Pink and Coral

I find these to last around 3-5 hours on my skin, longer when primed and set with translucent powder. I think these are slightly lacking in pigmentation but they can be built up without looking too scary! Unlike my sleek blushes I am unlikely to stuff up and look like a clown with these which is nice to know if I am in a rush. I probably wouldn't bother buying all the shades as they do look all fairly similar on the BYS website, mainly consisting of peach coloured shades and lighter and darker shades.

If you are looking for a cheap but good quality blush then I would recommend that you try one of these blushes out.
