Review: Maybelline FitME Matte + Poreless Foundation

Hey Guys

So today I wanted to share with you a review on the new Maybelline Foundation, the FitME Matte + Poreless Foundation. This is an expansion on the original FitME Foundation that was actually one of my first foundations, unfortunately it left me looking like a greaseball and quite a few shades darker and orange than I was meant to be.  So I told myself that I would not be buying this foundation due to my past experience with the Maybelline FitME range.

However when I stumbled across (ha) a 50% off Maybelline sale at Terry White, I found myself trying to find my shade in this new foundation, matte and poreless, sounds right up my alley! I matched myself to shade 120, Classic Ivory. This shade is still a little dark for my winter skin, but once summer comes around it should be a perfect match.

So I don't quite agree that this foundation makes my skin poreless, they are still there, maybe a bit covered and hidden by foundation but I don't typically consider my pores as a huge problem when I have foundation on. My primer typically helps with my pores regardless. I do however agree that this foundation is matte. I always powder my face, as I will be oily 5 seconds after I finish my face if I don't. I could potentially go without powder for this foundation, but I like to stick to my routine.

Now this foundation does oxidise a little on myself, and also runs more yellow than neutral but it is still a decent match for my skin. You might struggle to find an appropriate shade as there is only 6 shades in the range. But if you can find a match I would recommend picking up this foundation. It lasts all day on me, with only a little bit of oil peaking through at the end of the day (without touch ups). Which is impressive as I was wearing this for over 12 hours a day when I was doing my work experience.

Currently you can grab this for 50% off at Chemist Warehouse, but Maybelline is regularly on sale. This foundation retails for $18.95 AU which is a bargain anyway!

February Favourites

Hey Guys

I am so sorry I have been a bit absent from my blog. This post is about 3 weeks late but I figured I should post it regardless! My life has been taken over with tests and assignments and it has just been a little crazy. Which is why I want to try and dedicate some time to my blog so that I can have my own little escape from reality!

February went by so quickly, I started College and it just flew by, I can't believe I am practically half way through my course, which means all of the assessments are about to become a lot more difficult and more frequently due :(

Makeup wise I have only been wearing makeup once or twice a week when I go to work or catch up with friends. I have my firm favourites however which I stuck to during February.

Bad to the Bronze is my go to eyeshadow if I need something that will last all day and is super easy to do, one swipe over the lids and blended and my eyes look fantastic! Highly recommend these color tattoo's if you are looking for something easy that looks great. These retail for $11.95AU.

Sadly this cant be bought instore in Australia, I purchased mine off ASOS where it retails for around $15.50 AU but can often be found on sale. I really love this bronzing powder, it is a great colour that warms up my skin and if I am feeling lazy I will use it for a little bit of contour as well. This smells like cocoa as well which I think is great, you can't tell once it is on your skin though, just in the pan.

I have three of these lip lacquers but I think that my favourite shade would be celestial which is a lovely deep but soft pink shade. The new matte versions are now out but honestly I think that they would not work for me, my lips are super dry and I can even find these drying on my lips sometimes. This formula lasts a long time on my lips, a bit shorter with eating and drinking but better than most other formulas I own. These retail for $15.95 AU.

I think this is honestly my favourite brow product. I have the shade 02 Brown which is slightly dark and red for me but because I dye my hair it works. My left brow has quite a few patches of hair missing and this just helps fill in those gaps. This retails for $3.05 AU and is an absolute steal if you can find a shade match.

I am so sorry if I have gone on and on about this product but I absolutely adore it. I have been using this practically every time I wear makeup to set and finish my makeup but I have barely made a dent in this. I own two shades, soft focus and photo ready. Soft focus is not listed on the website and is a similar colour to photo ready but not exactly the same. I prefer soft focus as I find it gives a glow to my makeup like I have been airbrushed. I definitely recommend picking this up, it retails for $16.99 AU but will be on sale in next weeks Priceline 40% off cosmetics sale. Run don't walk.

This was everything I really loved in February. Sorry it was so late! I will try to be better with my March Favourites :)

My Necessary Backups

Hey Lovelies

I was searching through my back up drawer and decided it was a good idea to do a post about the items that I currently never want to run out of. My forever repurchased but mainly these are not HG rather just the items I am seriously loving right now and isn't want to find myself without.

I have talked about this powder before in a blog post, it is ridiculously cheap especially when you can grab it on sale and it always gives a lovely finish to my foundation. It adds coverage but never looks too cakey, the colour, shade natural is quite a decent match as well. So far I have not found another powder that does the job as well and for such little price point so I will continue to repurchase this. This retails for $11.95 AU and can be found at places such as Priceline, Kmart, Target and Big W amongst others.

I love this primer as it helps to keep my skin less oily and also keep breakouts at bay. It is also inexpensive and can be found often on sale. This retails for $13.95 AU and can be found at Priceline, Kmart, Coles, Woolworths, Target and Big W amongst others.

I absolutely love this toner, it is relatively cheap and you get a massive 200ml! This has both sacilyic and gycolic acid which is great for my blemish prone skin. I find that this is a great every day toner for my skin but I do use something stronger once or twice a week. I probably would not recommend this for dry skin though, my skin is extremely oily so I don't have any issues with using this product daily. This retails for $14.99 AU and can be found at most chemists, Priceline, Target, Coles, Woolworths, Kmart and Big W amongst others.

I got a little worried a while back that Essence were discontinuing their lipstick in shade 06 Barely There! as I found it on sale. It is one lipstick that I can wear everyday as it is such a great neutral shade and I find it longlasting on my lips without over drying them. These retail for $4.70 AU and can be purchased from Priceline or Target.

Bad to the Bronze is probably my favourite eyeshadow shade ever. It looks fantastic layered or by itself as a wash of colour. I have used up half of the pot which is saying something as I own a heap of other products I could be using. It lasts all day and I always get compliments on the shade. These retail for $11.95 AU and can be purchased from most chemists, Priceline, Coles, Woolworths, Target, Kmart and Big W amongst others.

These are not necessarily my holy grail products as I don't really throw that title around but I do find myself needing to keep back ups of these products just in case! What are the items you always keep stocked up?

Festive Nails

Hey Guys,

Christmas is so getting so close so I thought I would share with you my options for festive nails. Just a bit of a forewarning, I own absolutely no glitter nail polish, whilst it looks amazing it is an absolute pain to take off and a year or so ago I threw away all my glitter nail polish and have not bought any since. Obviously glitter nail polish is a great choice during Christmas time and if I owned any I would share it with you in this post however I only own a few nail polishes with little bits of glitter in them. So this post is more of the options that I have for festive nails!

One obvious choice for festive nails is red nails. I actually was unaware that I owned so many red nail polishes as it is typically not a colour I will wear. I have a few options to choose from, going from deep wine reds to vibrant red orange almost colours.

First up we have a nail polish from O.P.I in the shade Malaga Wine (RRP $19.95 AU) which is a lovely deep red wine shade. I absolutely adore this shade and whilst it is more of a winter time colour than summer I think it fits perfectly for this festive season. Another wine red I own is the Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in shade Wine to Five (RRP $6.95 AU). This shade is ridiculously similar to my O.P.I one but I prefer the formula of the O.P.I nail polish, this is a great cheaper alternative however. The next nail polish I have to show you is the SinfulColors Nail Colour in shade GOGO GIRL (RRP $4 AU). In the bottle this looks like a very vibrant red colour however when painted on the nails it starts to lean a little bit towards pink. This is a very thin formula and it does take a few coats to build up to opaque. Another similar colour to the SinfulColors nail polish is the Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Lacquer in shade 250 Keep Up the Flame (RRP $5.95 AU). This colour leans towards pink and the formula is quite thin so does require layering. The last red shade I have to show you is the Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel in the shade China Flower (RRP $15.95 AU). This is one is a gorgeous red that leans slightly towards orange which is great for my skin tone. This one also smells nice so there is that added bonus!

Another shade choice for festive nails that I own is green. Whilst these colours are not exactly green (more turquoise) I am sure no one will be disappointed.

First up is another Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel in the shade Wintermint (RRP $15.95 AU). Finally we have some glitter polish, this is a turquoise shade with blue square glitter particles floating in it. This smells like mint and is such a lovely colour. The other green (not really) shade I have to share with you is Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in shade Mint Mojito (RRP $6.95 AU). This is another turquoise shade however this one is quite bright in comparison.

I think come Christmas day, O.P.I's Malaga Wine will be on my nails. What festive nail polish do you plan on wearing?

Review: Maybelline New York Fit Me Blush

Hey Guys

This was a cheap chemist find, I found this blush from Maybelline New York  for only $4.50!! The blush I purchased is in the shade Deep Coral which I cant find on the Australian Maybelline website which could mean it is discontinued or not typically released here in Australia. I think that this is an absolutely stunning winter shade (I would wear it at any time of the year however), I can see this will quickly become my new daily blush shade.

This compact comes with a small fluffy brush which I don't personally use but it would be great for touch ups or applying this on the go. The blush lasts a good 5-6 hours on my oily skin and the formula is easy to blend in with a fluffy brush. This blush retails for $14.95 AU at Priceline, however they don't have the shade Deep Coral (at least not online). I recommend checking out your local Chemists beauty clearance bin to find some bargains, I found a lot of goodies!

What have you found on sale recently?

Chemist Warehouse Haul

Hey Guys

I think my spending ban was officially over when I decided to do an online order from Chemist Warehouse, they had 50% off all cosmetic brands which included Revlon, Rimmel and Maybelline. To be honest I could of done much much more damage, I kept it simple and mainly just purchased backups for when I run out, because half price is amazing value. So here is what I picked up.

Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder

I absolutely adore this powder, I already own one in the shade 001 Transparent and I picked up another two in the same shade. I do love my loose finishing veil which also has no colour, however sometimes a pressed powder is just more convenient. This ensures I stay shine free for a longer period of time, usually 4-5 hours which is great on an oily skinned gal like myself. One little niggle with this product is that every one I own the lid is cracked! It's like the lid doesn't fit the container, does anyone else have this problem or just me? This retails for $12.95 but was on sale for $6.47.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

I grabbed this concealer in shade 030 Classic Beige as I wanted a new concealer for under my eyes. I have been suffering from really bad under eye circles. This shade may be a bit too dark for under my eyes as I prefer something a bit lighter than my skin tone. So hopefully if it's too dark I can use it on any blemishes. This retails for $14.95 but I purchased it for $7.47.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal

I have heard so many great things about this eyeliner in shade 005 Nude so I had to pick it up for myself to try. I hear that when used on the waterline it really brightens up your eyes. This retails for $9.95 but was on sale for $4.97.

Rimmel Finishing Touch Ultra Shine Top Coat

I need another top coat as I currently only own one from O.P.I but it takes forever to dry! I borrowed this while at a friends house and I quite liked it, goes on smoothly and dries quickly and appeared to do a good job of making my nail polish last! This retails for $8.95 but was on sale for $4.47.

Maybelline Fit Me! Shine-Free Foundation

I have read mixed reviews on this foundation, I don't plan on using it as an actual foundation as I read it isn't great coverage which is not something I am interested in. I picked up shade 240 Golden Beige to contour with, I wanted the Toffee shade but they were sold out online. Most of these were sold out! Swatching this it looks a little orange but hopefully will blend out ok. I also wanted to pick up one of these for a concealer as I have heard that they are great concealers, but sadly there was no close matches in stock. I will have to look at picking up another if I enjoy the formula of this one. These retail for $15.95 but I grabbed this for $7.97.

Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer

I have actually owned this a long time ago when I used to use the whole Fit Me! range but I found the foundation oxidised on my skin really badly. I have been reading great reviews on this concealer though so I have picked this up in shade 20 Sand for concealing scars and blemishes. This retails for $14.95 but was on sale for $7.47.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin

I have really been loving this foundation so I picked up a spare because I can't imagine not having it. It is long lasting and keeps the shine away, it does smell a bit chemically but the pros far outway the cons. I have shade 220 Natural Beige which retails for $34.95 but was on sale for $17.48.

Revlon New Complexion Oil Control Makeup

I picked this up on a whim, it was only $12.48 so I decided that considering how much I loved my Colorstay foundation I might love this as well. It is aimed at my skin type but I am unsure of how high the coverage is, hopefully similar to the higher coverage of Colorstay.

And there you are, everything I picked up during the sale. I purchased this all on the website as the nearest store is an hour away! It is free shipping when you spend $99 or more, so my friend and I purchased together. Shipping was super quick, only a day. Some items were missing as they were being shipped from another warehouse but that only took an extra two days. I had originally believed the sale was ending on 29 May but according to the website and Instagram it is still on, so get in quick.

Did you participate in this sale?

Review: Maybelline New York Express Remover

Hey Guys

Just a really quick review on a product I am absolutely in love with for you today. I have been using this product a few months now and I never thought to do a post about it until my lovely Mum suggested I do. I told her to use the nail polish remover yesterday and the look on her face was priceless, she is now wanting one for herself, and so she should as this is a truly amazing product.

This is a pot that contains a sponge inside that has a circle hole in the middle which stretches to fit your finger in it, I assume that the pot is filed with nail polish remover. You swirl your finger around a few times and once you pull your finger out you can see that it is nail polish free! I absolutely love this, it has made taking nail polish off ten times easier for me. It even smells nicer and not as strong as other nail polish removers, which is great for people like me who have partners who loathe the smell. The only issue with this remover is that you cant use it to take off your glitter polish, particularly large glitter particle polishes. I used mine to take off bar glitter nail polish and now my sponge is a bit cut up inside, nothing too bad but I am sure if I used it a few more times with my glitter nail polish it would all fall apart. It does cost $9.95 AU however you can often find it on sale with other Maybelline makeup, I would happily pay full price for it however which must mean its true love.

Have you tried a nail polish remover like this one?

Review: Maybelline New York Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Pomegranate Punk

When I was on holidays and in a chemist, browsing the makeup section I came across this little baby by Maybelline. I already own another three color tattoo eyeshadows, and I absolutely love them. I had seen the shade Pomegranate Punk on a couple of blog pages, I think they were all UK bloggers however as looking at the website I cannot find this shade listed. I had also looked around in stores in WA but no luck. However I was looking at the sale section and found this! Score! I would of purchased it full price but I think I managed to grab it for around $8 AU.

As with the other color tattoo eyeshadows, this is a great formula which is highly pigmented and lasts a long time on the eyes. This is a very vibrate colour for me, considering I am mainly a neutral loving girl, I think this will be the perfect colour for Winter however. It is a deep plum colour with some shimmer and works well as an overall colour in my opinion. Similar to Bad to the Bronze this can be worn all over as a wash of colour.

What are your must have colours for winter?

March Monthly Favourites

Hey Guys

This is a bit late I know, but I have never done a monthly favourites before and I really wanted to start it but couldn't get my act together to chose everything I have been loving the past month. Better late than never I believe in this case!

March has absolutely flown by and April will be jam packed for me! I have multiple assessments due, a week holiday, a rental inspection, an upcoming hair appointment and another vet trip. I have also chosen to participate in the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge that is currently making its way around Instagram, I have never been one to take heaps of photos so it will be interesting having to post a photo a day but I am looking forward to participating more in the social side of beauty blogging.

On to my favourites for the month though..

It has been a beauty heavy favourite month this month, my skincare has been the same for a while as my skin can be fairly sensitive to some products so I am scared of breakouts if I try to switch up my routine too much. One good new product I have been using on my skin is the Sukin Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil which I mentioned in a blog post here, back in February. I try to use treatments every other night and an oil in between, when I use this Rose hip Oil I tend to wake up in the morning with much smoother and plumper skin. The only other sort of skincare product I have been using constantly this past month is the Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid with Lemon Oil. My lips are fairly dry and cracked a lot of the time (might have something to do with a nervous habit I have of biting my lips) so I like to keep this on hand to use. It is travel friendly and smells fantastic!

I have been using the Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer under my foundation and then placing a cream concealer on top, that is just how bad my under eye area is at the moment. I really like this product and on a good day this is more than enough to cover and conceal everything. I also enjoy that it aims to conceal AND treat your puffy and dark under eye area. The base that I have been loving lately after repurchasing is the Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Oily/Combination Skin, I was a little concerned that this was breaking me out, but I believe I have narrowed that down to a primer I was wearing. I really hope this isn't breaking out my skin as I absolutely love this foundation. It is the only low end foundation I have found that stays on my skin all day and will look relatively the same at night as when I put it on in the morning. I have shade 220 Natural Beige which is a good match for my skin colour at the moment.

The only cheek product I have been wearing lately is a light sweeping of BYS Compact Blusher in shade Coral. This is really pigmented and very cheap so I love to use this on a daily basis, I don't have to feel guilty if I use it all up. It is coming up to colder months now so I should probably stop wearing coral products but I absolutely love this blush so I probably wont be giving up using it any time soon. On my eyes I have mainly been using the Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in shade 05 to die for, I reviewed this product fully here. I really enjoy using this eyeshadow quad, the shades are lovely and the formula is really good, they are not chalky and are quite buttery smooth. You can create a few looks from just the four shades, but I mainly just stick with the same one, if it aint broke don't fix it.

There is all the products I have been really loving this past month. What have you been loving?

Wishing For #02

Hey Everyone

I am trying to save money for my holiday coming up at the end of next month so my spending has been limited lately (apart from the slip up with Priceline's 40% off sale). As a result of this I have been wishing for a lot of products.. Shame my birthday is not for another couple of months!

So here are the products I have been wishing for lately..

This is a fairly recent release in the UK from Maybelline, I have read a few reviews online about it when it first came out and I quickly emailed Australian Maybelline to find out if it would be making an appearance here, unfortunately they couldn't give me an answer which is fair enough but I have been waiting for it to trickle onto eBay so I can snap it up but no luck yet. I don't really need another foundation but I like to try all the ones I can to try and find the best match for my skin.

After reading about the benefits of using an exfoliating toner from many people (thank you Ms Hirons) I have really been wanting to try this one from Clarins. I can't find it on the Clarins website but I have found it on the adore beauty website for $40.50 AU. I really hate using abrasive exfoliators and much prefer using chemicals such as the Liquid Gold by Alpha H so I think this would be a good exfoliator to add into my routine.

Everyone has been raving about this lip balm and I really want to join the band wagon and try it out. According to the Nuxe website one of these lip balms are sold every 28 seconds in the world. How insane is that!! I have been waiting for a bit more money in my bank account before I snap this up, it retails for $19.95 AU on Adorebeauty.

What have you been wishing for?

Review: Maybelline New York EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

Hey Everyone

I have had this gel eyeliner from Maybelline for around a week now but it has completely replaced my other liners so I wanted to share a quick review with you.

I purchased this gel eyeliner during the Priceline 40% off cosmetics sale last week (or the week before?) on a whim as I don't own any gel eyeliners any more, I used to own some but I think they all dried up or went past their use by date. It has been a while since I have used a gel eyeliner and I couldn't remember liking them all that much, a bit of a mess and too much fuss compared to pencil. I really struggle putting on eyeliner, my hands are quite shaky and I find that liquid eyeliner just turns into a gigantic mess so I typically stay away from that unless I have the time to remove and redo my eye makeup several times.

I was worried that this eyeliner would take a long time to put on in comparison to my pencil eyeliner but I think this is just as easy and quick. The brush included really does the job which is good as I don't have any good quality eyeliner brushes yet, I just mainly have to do a quick swipe on each eyelid and tada! Sometimes I have to go over it again to even it up but it really is that simple. I really recommend this gel eyeliner to anyone that is looking for something longer lasting than pencil but is not adept at using liquid eyeliner.

I purchased this during a sale but it retails for $16.95 here in Australia and it seems like this little pot will last a fair while, I have shade blackest black.

Empties #01

I finally have used up a few of my products so I can share with you a quick review of the empty products which are all makeup products bar one haircare.

I received this 50ml bottle of Argan Oil in a Lust Have It! box a while back, and I have used this product up a long time ago. It actually started leaking when I received it in the box but never bothered to email the Lust Have It! team about it, so it continued to leak the rest of the time I had it. I liked this product, it smelt quite nice and was a little bit heavy on my hair but I felt like it was doing some good so I did not mind. Sadly my hair is beyond repair so this didn't fix my dead ends, but I am sure if you hair is not bleached to death then this will do your hair some good! 50ml is the full size and it retails on the Davroe website for $23.95 AU.

I purchased this off eBay a really long time ago, I haven't actually used up this product but it needs to be thrown out before I get an icky eye infection. I actually really like this mascara, it was simple and plumped up my lashes making them both longer and thicker. It wasn't waterproof which is what I prefer, it lasted all day and did not clump. I think I purchased this for around $7 off eBay and I would definitely purchase this again for a cheap mascara, but I think there are better mascaras out their.

I purchased this concealer a while ago in a 50% off Maybelline sale. I typically prefer cream concealer over liquid so I am not really sure why I picked this up. I purchased this in shade cream which was too dark to use under my eyes but was good on blemishes and discolourations. As far as liquid concealers go this is quite long lasting and pigmented, however I still prefer to use cream concealers. This retails for $14.95 AU.

This is probably my favourite low end foundation, I had tried not to repurchase it and see what else is out there but I could not resist repurchasing it. This old one is in shade 180 Sand Beige which is a winter shade for me but possibly still a bit light, so this time I purchased shade 220. The old version was great but did not come with a pump, they have since added a pump in which I couldn't be happier about. This retails for $34.95 AU and comes in a large range of shades and also a normal/dry skin formula.

Loreal Blush

I cant find this blush online as it is actually so old! I received this a few years ago as part of a Christmas gift and it was probably the first blush I ever had. It was in shade 114 Fresh Papaya which is a lovely coral shade with small shimmer particles. It also came with a brush that fits inside the compact and also contains a small mirror. I really wish they still had this blush (I also own another one in a more plum shade) as I think its a great blush and had a reasonable wear time.

Weekly Loves #07

Another week has gone by, and I am very glad it is over. It has been an extremely stressful week and I am only just feeling like I have gotten better. I have a bit of an odd list of favorites this week but I will share them with you regardless!

It is an extremely long named product but it is great, I have been getting up early and going to bed late so this has been a necessary staple in my beauty routine. This conceals my dark under eye circles and is meant to also help treat dark circles. The built in sponge is a worry to some people due to hygienic concerns but I am yet to find a problem as my skin is clean on application and I don't share the product with anyone else. This retails for $18.95 AU and it is easy to use up this product quickly so it isn't the cheapest option, however you can usually get this on sale and it really is worth it if you suffer from dark under eye circles.

Please excuse the unwashed brush but I am cleaning my brushes soon and rather than a wet brush I believe a used one would look a bit better. I really love this brush, it picks up the perfect amount of blush even on those really pigmented blushes that would make anyone look like a part of the circus. This brush retails for $22.99 in Australia, but you can grab this off the iHerb website for $9.99 US and pay only $4 shipping (I recommend buying more so the postage is worth it, but $14 is still better than $23!).

I have really been enjoying using this oil, I was a little worried at first that it may cause my skin to breakout but it has been clearing up my skin and slowly fading any scars I have. It goes on a little greasy but soon it is absorbed by your skin and I always wake up with hydrated skin. You can read my review on this product here. This particular rose hip oil retails for $19.95 for 25ml but there are a lot of options out their for rose hip oil.

Dermaveen Eczema Cream

I have been suffering from my right hand being super dry and peeling (gross I know) and my partner likes to believe that it's from all the strong products I use on my face. I mentioned this to my mum and my dad suffers from a skin conditon, my mum just believed it was a form of dermatitis so we picked up this cream to fix it up. Before I started using this the dry skin kept spreading and spreading but now that I have been using this a few times a day it has stopped spreading and is not as visibly dry. So far this cream has been working great and I really hope it continues to improve. I picked this up for $10.99 AU for 100ml at my local chemist.

Priceline Haul

So yesterday I visited Priceline to purchase some items during their infamous 40% off cosmetics sale which ran on Tuesday and Wednesday. I can never resist a sale and cosmetics is one of my (huge) weaknesses. I wanted to buy almost everything but I was restrained by my friend, I however managed to make her buy a lot of things (sorry!). I ended up with 8 items from 4 different brands. I will only quickly go over what I purchased as I plan on reviewing the items again once I have had time to test them out!

Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily Skin Foundation

This is probably my third or possibly fourth bottle of this stuff, I have tried other foundations but I always come back to this. It is high coverage and will last forever on my oily skin, the only issue I ever had was the smell (still not fixed but can't complain too much) and the fact it didn't have a pump. We'll guess what it finally has a pump! It has had a pump for a while now actually, but because I always purchased online I was always sent the old version, it was well worth the extra few dollars to purchase the one with the pump however! This retails for $34.95 AU but the sale price was $ 20.97 AU.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Polish

I have been dying to purchase one of these scented nail polishes by Revlon for a long time and I decided that at 40% off it was the best price I was going to get for a while! I was planning on getting a nice dark winter shade, perhaps a royal blue or brown. But I could not find one that I particularly liked and the other shades were similar to ones I already own (damn having such a large nail polish collection) so I chose shade 040 Wintermint which is a lovely aqua blue that has gold flecks and blue glitter particles running through it. I have not smelled it yet as my nose is completely blocked so it'd a bit pointless, but regardless I am happy to own this shade which is unlike anything else I own. This retails for $15.95 AU but was on sale for $9.57 AU.

Maybelline Lasting Drama By Eyestudio Gel Eyeliner

I have not used a gel eyeliner in a really really long time and I decided that my pencil eyeliner just was not cutting it lately, so I quickly threw this in my basket without having seen any reviews or really giving it a second thought. I purchased this in the shade 950 Blackest Black and it comes with a brush and a pot of gel eyeliner. This retails for $16.95 AU but was on sale for $10.17 AU.

Maybelline Express Remover

I have been dying to get one of these pot nail polish removers ever since I had seen a Bourjois one featured on a lot of UK blogs. Surely enough they trickled into Australia and I now finally own one! This is a pot that contains sponges soaked in nail polish remover and the idea is that you twist your finger in the sponge and it removes your nail polish. I am sometimes a little slack and can take a while to remove chipped nail polish but I am hoping with this little addition it will make it a lot easier. This retails for $9.95 AU but I picked it up for the sale price of $5.97 AU.

Australis Make-Up Finishing Spritz

I have wanted to try an 'official' make up setting spray for a while to compare it to using thermal water in an aerosol can, which is what I currently use. I haven't read any reviews on this product but it contains Aloe Vera and Rose Water which sounds like nice added ingredients. I will see how this goes and keep you updated. This retails for $14.95 AU but was on sale for $8.97 AU for 150ml.

Bourjois Happy Light Ultra-Covering Concealer

I have read reviews on this concealer and it seems like the perfect cream concealer for myself, I also swatched this in store and was quite happy with it. It does only come in two shades and I purchased it in shade 23 Beige. I mainly need this to help my under eye area but it can also be used on blemishes so it is considered multi purpose. I will test this out and do a full review soon. This retails for $19 AU but I purchased it at the sale price of $11.40 AU.

Bourjois Delice de Soleil Bronzing Powder

This is probably the one product that I feel guilty about purchasing, I think it took me a good half hour to decide whether I should or shouldn't purchase this. Obviously I did decide to purchase this, I had been looking at purchasing a new bronzer for a while. I originally wanted the Body Shop Honey Bronzer but it retails for $28 AU and I have yet to find it on sale. I compromised and picked up this bronzer, in my eyes Bourjois can do no wrong, I have not yet found a product by them that I haven't loved. I have read lovely reviews on this bronzer so I know I wont be disappointed. I purchased this in shade 12 for fair/medium skin, although I typically consider my skin tone as olive/tan I have a darker Australis bronzer which looks way too dark on my skin so I decided to play it safe and get the lighter shade. This retails for $30 AU but the sale price was only $18 AU.

Nude By Nature Natural Mineral Cover

This is just a back up product for my makeup stash. I have been using Nude by Nature for a couple years now and have fallen in love with it. My favourite product would be their finishing veil (but I have a huge amount left in my current one) but I also use their natural mineral cover daily, I have this in shade Light/Medium as I found the medium one left my skin looking orange. I usually dust this over my liquid foundation to provide that little bit of extra coverage. This retails for $39.95 AU for 15g which does last a very long time, I paid only $23.97 AU for this.

I also saved money by using my voucher that I recently received from Priceline, I had managed to spend over $500 last quarter (eep) and so I received a lovely voucher for $21.08, even the checkout person was impressed (I blame the skincare and cosmetic 40% off sale having occurred in the previous quarter) so I know that I have been fairly naughty with my spending lately. I will be going on another spending ban and so I will be reviewing products I haven't featured on here before and continue doing posts such as weekly loves and the minis, if you have any ideas for posts let me know!

Weekly Loves #06

This week has not been very good so I am happy to put it behind me and look forward to the week coming up, it will be full of moving and homework and catching up with the people I love. Now to the products I have loved this past week.

I received this body lotion a while back in a Lust Have It! beauty box, I can't find the exact product on their website as mine is probably a bit old but I only just opened this to put on my bedside table. I have had really dry skin on my hands and arms lately so I have been making sure to apply this every night and it seems to be doing some good for my skin.

I mentioned this perfume in my blog post here, so I am not going to reiterate myself talking about it. But I do really love the smell of this perfume and sometimes putting it on will just instantly lighten my mood. This retails for $99.99 AU at Priceline but you can usually grab it on special, it is currently on sale for $65.00 AU at Priceline!

I have talked about this on my blog before, and I am not the biggest fan of this foundation as it does not provide as much coverage as I need, but for the past couple weeks this has been the only foundation I have been using. This has a lot lighter texture than my much loved double wear however as the weather has been quite warm lately I have been reaching for this to ensure my face can actually breathe. I have shade 54 Beige, which is a fairly decent match for my summer tan shade so I can continue to use this until the weather starts to get a bit cooler and my tan fades. This retails for $32.00 AU but I would probably wait to purchase this when it is on sale, you can usually grab the foundation for $24 AU or at least 20% off RRP.

I have been feeling pretty lazy with my makeup lately and this is the only eyeshadow I have been putting on, in shade 25 Bad to the Bronze. This makes my eye makeup look like I have made an effort when all I have done is slap on a little of this (well not quite slap, you get the idea though). This retails for $11.95 AU but you can usually get it when there is a sale on Maybelline products.

What have you been loving this week?

Review: Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment

I purchased the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser after finishing off my Maybelline Super Stay 24HR Concealer in shade Cream which was the incorrect shade for my skin. I had been meaning to purchase the Instant Age Rewind Eraser for quite a while, but I was not willing to part with the $18.95 AU for it, and I had forgotten about it during the half price Maybelline sale and came home with the Super Stay concealer instead. I did quite like that concealer, but being the wrong shade was painful, but I managed to mainly mix it with a bit of concealer to get a brightening under eye effect.

I finally purchased the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser after finding it from a legitimate seller on eBay for only $13.80 with free postage. It arrived quickly in all the packaging and not out of date or anything horrible which can occur when purchasing off eBay. In Australia this can be purchased in 4 shades, fair, light, medium and brightener. I purchased this in the shade medium, which seems to be a good match for my summer skin colour.

This is not only a concealer, but also claims to be a treatment for under eye circles. It contains Goji Berry and Haloxyl which the website claims to be the active ingredient that:
Reduces the look of puffiness and shadows while fading the appearance of under-eye circles.
I have not been using this enough to comment on whether this product can actually treat the appearance of under eye circles, in my experience not a lot can so I am quite doubtful of this claim. Regardless I am happy to try and hope that it does work but I will not be too disappointed if it doesn't make any long term difference.

I have quite dark under eye circles, perhaps a combination of my sleeping troubles and genetics (thanks dad) and no matter what I do they wont budge. I quite like to use the cooling eye ball rollers after they have been  in the fridge for a while, but this is only a temporary improvement. This concealer works really well to cover my dark circles, just a twist or two and there is enough to cover everything. I realise that a brush on top is not the most hygienic of ways to dispense the product, but I will be the only one using this so I see no problems with it. I just have to keep it away from my eyes as I would with any other brush.
